HOSPITAL SUPPORT

About the Team
Over the past several years individuals and teams have been going to Holley Memorial Hospital in
Ochadamu, Kogi State, Nigeria. They have been able to help out in a variety of ways assisting the
hospital to improve its facilities and work practices. This is all much needed and deeply appreciated
by the staff and local community, but there is still so much to do.
Once again we are putting together a team, mainly of medical professionals, who can use their skills,
experience and knowledge to make an even greater impact upon the hospital. They will do some
training and give guidance on work procedures. They will look at areas that need improving and help
develop ways to make things more efficient.
The team would also benefit from having electricians, plumbers and builders on board, who can help
to improve the infrastructure of the hospital. In particular by helping to install new wiring and water
pipes on the wards and compound of the hospital.
Lots of children live in the community around the hospital so some of the team could spend a few
hours some evenings doing some kids clubs, crafts, activities and Bible stories. Or there is also a
leprosy colony where former patients have set up home, so the team can spend time visiting them.
This team isn’t just about the two weeks in Africa! The team will meet up several times before it goes
to make plans and practical arrangements and for six months after the team return they will meet
regularly to prioritise, develop plans and implement strategies to improve the hospital and build on
their hands on experience.
