Introduction
There are thousands of kids living on the streets of Africa. Some are as young as 7 or 8! They have to beg or steal for every meal, they suffer from all sorts of diseases, are abused in many ways, they have no school, no education and no hope for the future.
That's why we support care centres in different cities that give these kids food, shelter, education, loads of Christian influences and most importantly a future!
City Ministries in Kagoro
City Ministries run about 8 care centres across Northern Nigeria, both in big cities and in more rural areas. The Kagoro centre on the edge of a small country town between Jos and Abuja. There are still lots of orphans and children who have ran away from home living ‘rough‘ in this area and the ‘Gidan Bege’ centre is there to offer them a place to live that is safe and friendly. This residential care centre is able to offer the children everything they need, not only to survive but to thrive.
At the residential centre they are put into a family group and are looked after by an 'Uncle' or ‘Auntie’ They also go to school, where they learn to read and write. They are surrounded by Christian influences and many of the boys have become Christians, but they often struggle to understand how to live a Christian life. The Kagoro centre has between 20 to 30 children living there, mostly boys and some as young as 5 or 6 up to 15 years old.
