Streetkids Urban

Introduction
There are thousands of kids living on the streets of Africa. Some are as young as 7 or 8! They have to beg or steal for every meal, they suffer from all sorts of diseases, are abused in many ways, they have no school, no education and no hope for the future.
That's why we support care centres in different cities that give these kids food, shelter, education, loads of Christian influences and most importantly a future!
City Ministries
These care centres in Nigeria are run by 'City Ministries', which reaches out to street kids in urban areas and provides them with the home and love that they have been denied. It seeks to develop the kids skills and education while also nurturing them spiritually and giving them the opportunity to know Jesus.
There is an initial ‘drop in’ centre where the street kids come and are given food and offered a bed to sleep in. Gradually they get settled into this centre and after several months here they are moved to one of the residential centres.
At the residential centres they are put into family groups and are looked after by an 'Uncle'. They also go to school, where they learn to read and write. They are surrounded by Christian influence and many of the boys have become Christians, but they often struggle to understand how to live a Christian life.
There are boys and girls of all ages at the centres, from 7 or 8 year olds to late teens. Some spent many years on the streets, some came straight to the centres. Some are orphans, some have family but they are unable to live with them.
